The Backstory: Part Two

Two houses down from Mimi, another couple was moving in. Benjamin Coffin the Third, or Benny, and his wife Allison, had just built a large house that was much too large for the neighborhod, but it did a great job of showing off their wealth. Benny and Allison appeared to be in love...

But unfortunately this love was only a facade. Benny was desperately unhappy, and always looking for new love. And Benny didn't like to look very far.

Meanwhile, back at Mimi's, Angel was growing up fast.

Mimi and Roger were both so proud of their daughter. Mimi still lived with her alone, while Roger remained in the loft with Mark. Mark had finally forced him to get a job, which kept him away from Mimi and Angel more than he cared for. This didn't sit well with Mimi, either.

Mimi buried her growing frustration at her relationship with Roger as she taught Angel to walk and talk. The years wore on, and Angel continued to grow into a happy, healthy little girl.

With Angel in school, Mimi grew increasingly bored. So when a certain neighbor showed up at her doorstep, she found it very hard to resist his advances.

When Angel got home from her friend's house, she saw her mother and Benny Coffin kissing on the front lawn, with Benny being barely dressed. She began to cry and ran inside the house. Mimi and Benny never even saw her.

Mimi felt awful about what she had done. The next day she felt even worse when Roger showed up while Angel was at school, and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She immediately said yes, deciding to put her affair behind her. Mimi and Roger had a long night.
The next day, Mimi began to feel that sensation in her stomach again. She just hoped that Roger had been the cause.

Serves Roger right. What was he waiting for? Their daughter looks like she's, what, seven years? And still no marriage? Mimi should have left him long before.
